Renowned Australian luxury yacht builder Riviera is preparing to roll out the red carpet to showcase two brand-new models of on-water elegance as part of a dazzling $11 million, seven-yacht display at the Sydney International Boat Show (July 30-August 3).
The multiple 2015 marine industry export award-winner is inviting Riviera owners and enthusiasts to be amongst the first in the world to step aboard its latest luxurious releases – the sophisticated new 57 Enclosed Flybridge and the stylish new 52 Enclosed Flybridge, both from the luxury marque’s supremely seaworthy flybridge collection.
And, of course, there’s a special Sydney evening of Riviera-style celebration in store too.
Riviera chairman and owner Rodney Longhurst said the entire Riviera display in Sydney will be a beacon of boating excellence and will include the 445 SUV, 515 SUV, 5000 and 6000 Sport Yachts and Belize 54 Daybridge models.
“Our stunning Sydney showcase will reflect Riviera’s unparalleled passion for excellence in all areas of design, technology, performance and luxury liveability,” he said.
“The 57 Enclosed will have world-wide appeal and to cater for specific market requirements will be available with either pod or shaft drives. Making her World Premiere in Sydney, the new 57 Enclosed is truly the embodiment of design innovation all the way from her bowsprit to her swim platform.
“Everything is in consummate proportion … and the exciting new cockpit and mezzanine design creates an entirely new indoor/outdoor living experience that is ideal for longer-range, live-aboard blue-water cruising.
“The 57 Enclosed Flybridge also features a full-beam master stateroom and two guest staterooms, two bathrooms as well as a full suite of state-of-the-art technology, incorporating the very latest navigation systems and the intuitive CZone digital switching systems.”
The new Riviera 52 Enclosed Flybridge, also from Riviera’s supremely seaworthy Flybridge collection, is being seen for the first time in Sydney and is testament to the luxury marque’s commitment to being one of the best boat-builders in the world.
“The new 52 is a stunning example of Riviera refinement,” said Mr Longhurst.
“She is a three-stateroom/two-bathroom accommodation design with the master able to be located forward or aft. The 52 Enclosed also features new flybridge and new cockpit designs as well as a wide range of standard inclusions that, in the past, might have been considered optional.”
Riviera has put to purpose every piece of available space onboard these latest new models, with cutting edge computer software allowing the team of talented and passionate international designers to maximise living space while at the same time providing convenient access to every key maintenance point, ensuring service costs are kept to a minimum.
“Of course, these thoughtful built-to-last and quality considerations for our Riviera family of owners are key parts of our ethos of doing all we can to help our valued owners achieve … ‘the ultimate boating experience’,” says Mr Longhurst.
Riviera’s global family of luxury yacht owners and their guests are invited to help celebrate the latest additions to the esteemed Riviera collection at the Let Us Entertain You spectacular on the Saturday night of Sydney International Boat Show (Saturday, August 1). The event will be held at the Riviera and Belize marina display at Cockle Bay, Darling Harbour, from 6.30pm-9.30pm. If you would like more information regarding this event, please visit
In the global luxury motor yacht market, the name Riviera stands synonymous on an international scale with hallmark luxury, technology, blue-water sea-keeping capability and premium owner support.
This has not come about by chance – underpinning the remarkable success of Australia’s 2015 and 2016 Marine Industry Exporter of the Year is an ethos of excellence reflected throughout a rich 36-year heritage and the launch of almost 5200 motor yachts that today can be seen cruising the lakes, rivers and oceans of the world.
Riviera chairman and owner Rodney Longhurst said that whilst humbled by the growing global affection for the luxury marque, the 480-strong team of dedicated designers, engineers and master craftsmen at Riviera’s world-class facility on Queensland’s Gold Coast remains absolutely focused on building the best Rivieras ever.
“Riviera is extremely proud of the high level of enthusiasm and excitement ahead of the World Premiere of our new, luxurious and long-range Sports Motor Yacht collection in May 2017,” he said.
“This refreshingly distinct style of on-water luxury has been developed in-house by the very talented Riviera design team after extensive consultation with our global family of owners regarding their yachts and their aspirations for their ultimate yacht.
“What we’ve heard is that, in increasing numbers, our experienced luxury motor yacht aficionados are wanting to take their boating further afield with true long-range cruising aspirations, whilst still being able to fish effectively and undertake a raft of water sports, including diving.”
The 68 and 72 Sports Motor Yacht designs help luxury motor yacht owners fulfill these dreams, offering the exhilaration of supreme sports performance as well as fantastic interior flexibility with a wide array of luxury lifestyle features to enhance precious time aboard.
For example, the spacious sports-inspired cockpits of both models have copious storage solutions and the elevated mezzanine, at the very heart of the entertaining space, includes a massive dining and entertaining area as well as direct access to the day head.
There is also thoughtful connectivity to the central gourmet galley, positioning the chef right in the heart of the very social environment.
“The Sports Motor Yacht collection – with the 72 model offering even greater space in the cockpit – offers fully flexible accommodation plans with a choice of three or four staterooms, including full-beam master stateroom with private ensuite. There are options for a teenager’s retreat, crew quarters or dedicated sporting equipment stowage, depending on specific owner requirements and aspirations,” said Mr Longhurst.
“The futuristic flybridge of the Riviera Sport Motor Yacht design will be fully enclosed and accessed via an internal staircase, with an ultramodern forward helm brimming with the latest in marine technology to ensure easy operation and to give owners more time to enjoy all the relaxing and rewarding benefits of the luxury long-range cruising lifestyle.”
The new-generation 68 and 72 Sports Motor Yacht designs emerged from the 67 concept that was announced at the Riviera Festival of Boating last year.
“Before we build each new Riviera, we embark on an extensive program of consultation with our very experienced owners, many of whom have cruised extensive sea miles and spent extended periods living aboard our luxury motor yachts,” said Mr Longhurst.
“We then create the yacht using 3D technology enabling us to put to use every millimetre of onboard space and build full-scale internal mock-ups where our designers and our prospective owners can physically walk through the yacht’s saloon and staterooms and get a real feel for the individual spaces and proportions.
“Throughout this year’s Festival we physically walked our new Sports Motor Yacht owners through the internal mock-ups and demonstrated how we are continually listening and learning, and how we have incorporated their stated desires into the final design.”
The Sports Motor Yacht collection will be shaft-driven, with standard power being the proven twin MAN 1550 V-drive engine package delivering 1550 horsepower (1140kW).
There’s a full stand-up engine room, while a strong and robust hull developed by Riviera’s in-house design team in collaboration with Frank Mulder Design in the Netherlands – three-time naval architects of the ‘Fastest Yacht in the World.
“We have also tank-tested the hull at the Wolfson Unit for Marine Technology and Industrial Aerodynamics at the University of Southampton, England to ensure maximum hull efficiency and performance,” said Mr Longhurst.
“The impressive Sports Motor Yacht from Riviera appeals to experienced luxury motor yacht owners who aspire to spend more time aboard with family and friends cruising to idyllic, distant destinations.
“The enthusiasm as we showcase the new Sports Motor Yacht concept confirms that this inspiring new design reflects the extensive ‘wish lists’ of many serious motor yacht owners.”
A strengthening US dollar has iconic Australian luxury yacht builder Riviera in a buoyant mood ahead of the Miami Yacht & Brokerage Show in Florida starting next week (12-16 February 2015).
Revered right around the globe for the legendary sea-keeping abilities of its yachts and a hallmark passion for perfection in everything it does, Riviera will present the latest in nautical design, marine technology and on-water luxury at its largest Miami display for five years.
Headlining the luxury marque’s $US10 million, red-carpet on-water showcase are two very exciting models: the stylish and sophisticated new Riviera 6000 Sport Yacht and the sporty and adventurous new 515 SUV crossover yacht.
Each being seen for the first time in Miami, the series flagship 6000 Sport Yacht and the new 515 SUV have received worldwide acclaim since their world premieres in Australia, translating into strong sales results for Australia’s most-awarded boat-builder ever.
Riviera chairman and owner Rodney Longhurst said Miami visitors will have the opportunity to see first-hand how 35 years of experience and a continual process of refinement is achieving recreational yachts that are amongst the very best in the world.
Revered Riviera has the marine industry abuzz with anticipation of the announcement of an entirely new design of luxury yacht to usher in its astute and very advanced Sports Motor Yacht collection.
Australia’s most awarded luxury motor yacht builder – and 2015 Marine Industry Exporter of the Year – has revealed preliminary details of its pioneering 67ft yacht with a hull developed in conjunction with Dutch superyacht designer, Frank Mulder – three-time architect of the “Fastest Yacht in the World”.
“Today we present a window to the future of Riviera,” said the world-class luxury marque’s chairman and owner Rodney Longhurst at the Riviera Festival of Boating and Gold Coast International Marine Expo on Australia’s Gold Coast.
“It is extremely exciting that we are charting a new course for Riviera that has for 35 years been a leader in design, luxury, technology and legendary blue-water sea-keeping performance.”
The 67 Sports Motor Yacht – scheduled for a 2016 release – is a refreshingly new design with high sports performance and spacious sports cockpit that will appeal to experienced luxury motor yacht owners who desire to spend more time cruising aboard a supremely luxurious, long-range Riviera.
The fun-loving fellows at R Marine Crawley are this month sporting some suave and fashionable facial hair … although in some cases this is most certainly a more-than-slight exaggeration.
Nevertheless, mid-way through the fundraising Movember, even those team members struggling to grow a meaningful moustache seem to be keeping a stiff upper lip.
Of course there is a serious side to these fun-filled fashion statements – the R Marine Crawley team is helping to raise funds for a movement that has made a tangible difference for the health of men right around the world.
Dealer Principal of the Riviera and Belize dealership based at Runaway Bay on the Gold Coast, Ben Crawley is now resembling what many might suggest is a Mexican pool man.
However, Ben admits there’s a real sense of purpose among the team to assist the great Movember cause.
“I had mine trimmed just this morning and I must say it’s feeling … different,” he says. “Our service and maintenance manager Jade Anderson appears to have an edge on us all in the growth stakes – he usually sports a set of handlebars.
Stepping on to the wide hydraulic boarding platform you’ll immediately notice the tender garage, the door of which opens with the touch of a button. Here, an optional 3.3-metre (10.8ft) Brig tender with permanently mounted 20hp, four-stroke outboard can be easily launched or retrieved with the built-in electric winch.
Stepping up through either of the wide stainless steel transom gates and into the expansive cockpit of the Riviera 5400, you’ll appreciate the evolution of the luxury indoor/outdoor, single-level living design for which our Sport Yacht series is both internationally renowned and highly awarded.
A closer inspection of the 11.4m2 (122.7ft2) cockpit confirms the clever lifestyle and storage designs. A large forward-facing transom lounge, with drink holders and storage for the two supplied fenders and four supplied dock lines within its armrests, sits conveniently aft.
The 5400’s curvaceous fibreglass hardtop extends well aft to provide shelter and shade from the extremities, and houses the cockpit’s own electric sliding Webasto sunroof to bring extra sunlight and fresh air into the alfresco area when desired.
To port is the wet bar and double barbecue, a refrigerator and icemaker as well as a solid surface bench top with sink and hot and cold water. The L-shaped lounge/dining area to starboard features storage underneath as well as concealed feature lighting, and the teak table lowers to become a daybed.
The entertainment system to the cockpit of the 5400 Sport Yacht comprises two weather-proof speakers controlled via a second zone selection from the premium-quality saloon entertainment system.
There is direct access to the tender garage through a hatch in the teak-laid cockpit floor, as well as hatches with stainless steel lockdowns to port and starboard for engineering access. A further hatch forward serves as the main entrance to the engine room.
Not even dark skies on the horizon could dampen Riviera’s enthusiasm as four brand-new examples of Australian-built on-water luxury today departed the iconic marque’s world-class facility on the Gold Coast bound for next weekend’s 2015 Sydney International Boat Show.
Led through the Gold Coast seaway by the supremely seaworthy and luxurious long-range new 57 Enclosed Flybridge – which makes her World Premiere in Sydney – the convoy heading south down Australia’s east coast includes the stylish Riviera 6000 Sport Yacht, sporty 515 SUV and the sophisticated new 52 Enclosed Flybridge, which makes her Sydney Premiere as part of stunning $13.5 million showcase at Cockle Bay on Darling Harbour.
Also featured at Riviera’s red-carpet Sydney display will be the impressive 445 SUV and 5000 Sport Yacht models, as well as the timelessly classic Belize 54 Daybridge and, it has now been confirmed, a second stately 5000 Sport Yacht being offered through the new Boating Partnerships – the only syndication service with the formal factory endorsement of Australia’s 2015 Marine Exporter of the Year.
With Sydney’s inspiring skyline as a backdrop, these eight magnificent and luxurious motor yachts will certainly make for a spectacular setting when Riviera hosts its sold-out “Let Us Entertain You” marina party next Saturday night for some 350 members of the global Riviera family of luxury motor yacht owners and their invited guests.
An extremely strong surge of registrations for the 2015 Riviera Festival of Boating – which this year includes 11 brand-new educational workshops – has prompted a timely reminder for people to book early to secure places for their preferred events.
Now in it’s 4th year, this truly unique festival of fun and learning helps owners and aspiring owners of luxury motoryachts to use their boats to their full potential, and this year includes over 70 informative educational and fun social events across four fantastic days (21-24 May 2015).
“The interest in the 2015 Festival is extremely strong with registrations to date right across the entire spectrum of events – from knots and rope-work, systems operation and new technology demonstrations right through to offshore seamanship and navigation seminars, as well as our very special social events,” said Riviera director of brand and communications, Stephen Milne.

“Unfortunately, numbers are limited so please book early to avoid disappointment. If you are interested in attending any Festival event, please register online at (www.FestivalOfBoating.com).
Importantly, all Festival events are open to everyone, even if they simply aspire to one day own a luxury yacht.
“The Riviera Festival of Boating was created to introduce new people to boating as much as honing the skills of experienced boaters,” said Mr Milne.
“The huge array of 27 individual educational seminars will help everyone who loves boating to acquire the skills to experience everything from weekend harbour and coastal cruising to extended coastal passages to wonderful destinations.
“The Festival provides the skills and motivation for motoryacht owners to stretch their sea legs and experience the exhilaration of blue-water cruising, in the company of fellow Riviera owners who all share the same passion,” said Mr Milne.
Among the 11 new Festival educational seminars for 2015 are Marine Assist focusing on emergency essentials, Understanding the Weather conducted by an expert meteorologist, Living the Riviera Dream with David and Sue Rogers who spent three months living aboard their 43 Open Flybridge, Escape, and Sydney to Singapore with skipper Tim Edwards, which includes details of an epic leg from Darwin to Singapore aboard the 75 Enclosed Flybridge, Seabreeze, without stopping for fuel.
Others include Offshore Navigation, Provisioning & Planning, Ask a Riviera Expert, Experience a Seakeeper gyroscopic stabiliser, The Simplicity of C-Zone, The Glass Cockpit and, of course, The Riviera Express factory tour by train.
“Riviera will also be conducting 60-minute fully narrated train and bus factory tours of our world-class luxury boat building facility – the largest in the Southern Hemisphere – with the train departing at regular intervals throughout the day,” said Mr Milne.
“This will be an opportunity to see behind the scenes how a Riviera is built – from hand lamination through to engineering and final fit-out, right through to our comprehensive pre-delivery quality control procedures. In fact the train tours were so popular when we first introduced them at the Gold Coast International Marine Expo in October, that this time we will have a bigger train.”
Mr Milne reminded visitors that the very popular Festival social events require tickets to be pre-purchased in advance for catering purposes.
“This year the social events include a Perfume Masterclass ladies luncheon on Friday, a seafood-inspired Dock of the Bay marina party on Friday evening, as well as a spectacular R Factor gala on Saturday evening where some of the best voices in Australia will battle it out for supremacy,” he said.
“All of the most popular Festival events have also been retained for 2015 and also comprehensively reviewed and refreshed in consultation with visitors and the experts who conduct them.
“Even if our visitors have previously attended individual Festival seminars, there will definitely be something new and valuable to take away from attending this year.”
Mr Milne said staging such a unique event also enables Riviera to welcome members of its global family of owners to the home of Riviera at Coomera on Australia’s Gold Coast – the largest luxury yacht building facility in the Southern Hemisphere.
“Of course it also gives us the opportunity to showcase our latest range of luxurious Riviera and Belize motoryachts – and this year we have a stunning $15 million red-carpet, on-water display,” he said.
“Also this year we will be announcing three new Riviera models and an entirely new yacht design, exclusively at the Riviera Festival of Boating and Gold Coast International Marine Expo.”
The dates of the Expo – a massive showcase of all things aquatic featuring everything from superyachts to jet skis, kayaks to fishing equipment … and everything else in between – this year align with the Riviera Festival of Boating, creating four fantastic days at the Gold Coast Marine Precinct at Coomera featuring every marine display imaginable, all in one place.
“The Festival itself will be held within the confines of the Riviera factory, with a significant part of the rest of our 14-hectare world-class facility included as one of the five key event sites for the Expo,” said Mr Milne.
“Riviera Festival of Boating visitors will enjoy free VIP parking at the gate and, because you’ll need more than one day to experience everything both the Festival and Expo have to offer, we have arranged multiple-day Expo ticket prices and accommodation packages.
“Full details on event registrations and special Festival offers are available on the Festival website (www.FestivalOfBoating.com).
