With a career spanning some 23 years, Greg has extensive knowledge in all aspects of the marine industry and looks forward to sharing his experience with you over the coming months.
From the age of three, Greg followed in his family’s love for boating, subsequently, when he came of age, deciding to undertake a Marine Mechanics apprenticeship, which he completed with Distinctions in 1998. Throughout his apprenticeship, Greg received three awards, Most Outstanding Workshop Skills, 1st Year and three Outstanding Achievement Awards.
Through his articulated approach to marine mechanics, Greg set out to learn all aspects of marine mechanical repair. During this period Greg had the opportunity to work with some industry leading brands such as Volvo, CAT, Scania and Yamaha, giving him a wealth of industry knowledge and a solid contact platform for the future.
To add to his busy schedule, Greg, during the same period obtained his Master Class V Certificate of Competency.
Looking for a change, Greg spent time working on Hayman Island in the Whitsundays, skippering the Islands 72ft Westcoaster Dive Vessel and crewing the Islands 35m fast ferry fleet.
During this time Greg obtained his unrestricted Master Class 1V Certificate and was responsible for vessel passages throughout the Australian East Coast from Sydney to Cairns. With a massive claim to fame, a highlight during this role was meeting several high profile guests on board including David Bowie, Bruce Springstein, Usher, James Taylor, Jennifer Anniston, Brittney Spears and Vince Vaughn.
On returning to his home base in Sydney, Greg spent five years in the position of Master and Manager of MV Whitehaven, a 120 tonne 90ft Norman R Wright commercial charter vessel, in full DNV classification survey. A diverse role, which involved constant travel, Greg managed all annual re-fit programs, ranging from, DNV Class surveys, re-paint and re-fit work, through to full engine re-power. Many of these projects taking place at the well renowned Norman R Wright shipyards in Brisbane.
