A total of 10 Rivieras cruised from the Gold Coast to Moreton Island as part of the R Marine Crawley Broadwater Weekend Getaway.
The fun-loving members of R Marine Crawley’s fraternity of Queensland Riviera owners regularly enjoy cruising in company to amazing destinations north and south of the Gold Coast.
The Runaway Bay-based Riviera dealer’s recent Broadwater Weekend Getaway saw five luxurious motor yachts depart Runaway Bay for a 35 nautical mile cruise to Tangalooma on Moreton Island, being joined by a further five vessels along the way.
Cruising up the Canaipa Passage on the inside of the picturesque Stradbroke islands, the RMC Club flotilla first anchored at historic Peel Island at the southern end of Moreton Bay, where guests enjoyed the camaraderie and sunset drinks on the beach.
Cruising in company creates special memories.
An early departure in great cruising weather the following morning ensured an amazing day of swimming, snorkeling and exploration at the famous Tangalooma shipwrecks, including a lovely beach barbecue and plenty of interaction with the local marine wildlife whilst anchored overnight.
Fifteen vessels were deliberately sunk at Tangalooma in 1963 to form a breakwall for small boats also creating an amazing wreck dive and snorkel site. The crystal clear waters provide fantastic visibility to view marine life and coral formations such as wobbegongs, trevally, kingfish yellowtail and an array of tropical fish.
