What an amazing event you and your team of young enthusiastic professionals put on for the Lady Musgrave Muster 2017.
In preparation for the Muster RMC provided us with clear, concise and detailed information, which was invaluable the entire duration of this fabulous cruise. Being Sydney siders, we found ourselves coaching each other on boat and crew names the entire trip. That hand book was like the Bible with an endless list of Crew names, boat names, coordinates, marinas, restaurants, fuel stops, Coast Guard’s, and sea life. It was just fantastic!
From the moment we left the Gold Coast Seaway, we could feel the excitement and anticipation of the adventure ahead of us. Brilliant calm conditions, blue skies, breaching whales, playful dolphins and endless banter over the radio made the trip to Mooloolaba such incredible fun.
In the following days and nights, we cruised up the coast through Wide Bay bar, Fraser Island, Kingfisher Resort, and Bundaberg enjoying endless calm conditions, and stunning Sunrises and Sunsets. After a good dinner at Bundaberg and several cold drinks, we dropped ropes at 5.30am for the final run to Lady Musgrave.
Before long we all made our way through the channel into the bay fully protected by a coral reef. The RMC fleet navigated around the Coral Heads and into the crystal clear turquoise waters of Lady Musgrave. It was simply stunning!
We spent the next three days and nights exploring the crystal clear waters, the coral reefs, the island and the sea life. The waters were dotted with huge turtles swimming, feeding and of course mating. The turtles were relentless, amazing and intriguing. The bird life too was something to see as hundreds of birds dotted the trees on the Island.
We loved the impromptu tender rendezvous in the crustal clear shallows along the reef. We also loved the mandatory Sundowners on the beach every evening to mingle and watch the sun go down. But most of all we loved our new group of like minded friends with whom we were sharing this incredible fabulous trip with.
A highlight for us was the Auction on the beach to benefit Ronald Macdonald House. Everyone rallied around with their chosen Auction items and an enthusiastic hand wave in a flurry of bids. Ben was fantastic at encouraging everyone to have fun and support this wonder fun charity.
Leaving came too soon. The run home via Bundaberg, Fraser Island, & Kingfisher into Tin Can Bay was fantastic. After a sleep over and good meal we dropped ropes again at 5.30am and made our way out into Wide Bay Bar for the trip south past Mooloolaba and into Morton Bay. As we approached the Broadwater the banter between all the boat crews heightened as we said our goodbyes, to all our new found friends.
Ben, Jason and the entire team at RMC worked tirelessly to make our cruise to Lady Musgrave an experience of a life time.
We simply can’t wait for the next R Marine Crawley Muster.
Our sincere thanks and appreciation go out to Ben, Jason and the team.
