Unfortunately, due to bad weather conditions, pole position racing was cancelled for all teams on day one.
With conditions looking better on day two, teams pulled numbers out of a hat, leaving it up to chance to receive the best starting position. R Marine Crawley racing team drew a lucky 3, giving them a positive start in both race 2 and race 3 of the Mackay event.
As the jaw dropping sound of 600hp engines, echoed through the air, it was evident that the adrenalin rush was about to start. Both race 1 and 2 had teams encounter a big swell and as a result see some wild crashes, closing the race course for long periods of time, while salvage crews assisted in the cleanup.
R Marine Crawley Racing had a good run given the challenging conditions, recording a 3rd and 4th place. The team’s official response from the weekend was; “Andy Smith and Glenn Campbell did a great job controlling the boat in the rough conditions. Thanks again to our sponsors Dynamic Excavations BRS Building Rectification Services, R Marine Crawley, Brisbane Marine, Simtech Creations, Profender Pontoon Fenders, Media Booth Australia and more… for your continued support”.
