March 3 – 5 | Whitsunday Wanderings with RMC’s Andrew Hickman
Another beautiful wet season boating escape in the beautiful Whitsundays – Warm, a little wet and totally glassed off. I don’t think we saw more than 5 knots of wind over three days!
Four boats headed out for the weekend, three of us meeting in Stonehaven Bay, ideally located near Langford Island and Blue Pearl Bay.
We all endured an enjoyable evening of sundowners on board John and Gail’s 54 footer ‘Playmate” and the next day Phil and Mandy from “Genie”, a 56 foot Riviera, and Tamara and myself still found the energy to head for Blue Pearl Bay for a day of Snorkeling.
It was an absolute perfect day and apart for almost running aground trying to sneak the tender between Arkhurst Island and Hayman Island it was one of the best snorkeling days ever. So still, and warm with outstanding water clarity. The number and variety of fish was amazing with my day being made by discovering a couple of Nemo fish, the others believe they were false Nemo’s but I think they are just jealous as I was the only one to spot them!
There is nothing better than being able to use your boat all year round in such a boating paradise. Come and join us on this years RMC Expedition to explore the Whitsundays, you will love it!
